This section of the website will concentrate on the 16 Parishes in the South East Corner of Somerset by making available, resources for the study of our families and also adding a little local history for each town and village as it comes available. Some of my own family lines came from the Horsington area, the main ones being the SHARLEY, HANNAM and HALLETT families. If you are researching any of these families please do contact me as we may be able to help each other. I also have many other records not online for some of these parishes, so please do write and I will help if I can. This site is very much under development and as you can see it does need alot of work which will take time to complete. If you are researching your family in this area and need any help please do make contact. I don't have answers for all queries, but I will try and help. I would very much welcome contributions of any kind. For example this could be extracts of Parish Records or Census Records or an article on an item of a genealogical or of a historical interest, or supplying photos on one or more of the villages.
Somerset OPC Project - Following on from the successful establishment of these projects in other County's especially that of Cornwall, the Somerset OPC project was started back in January, which at first was to cover just the West Somerset Region, but has very quickly expanded to cover the whole County. Somerset has over 400 parishes, so this is going to be a large project and many volunteers are needed. If you can help by looking after the needs of one or more parishes, then please visit the Somerset OPC website for further information. All help would be very welcome to make this project as much of a success as the Cornwall OPC project is. I have volunteered to look after the group of parishes including Horsington, Templecombe, Henstridge, Stowell, Milborne Port and North Cheriton. The webpages for these parishes will be updated soon. Don't worry I will still be answering queries for the other parishes in this group here and help where I can. |
